About Bulgaria
Bulgaria Tucked away and lying almost forgotten in the far south-eastern corner of Europe, Bulgaria remains one of the continent's best kept secrets. However, it is this very location which has meant that Bulgaria, although only a small country in terms of size, has been richly endowed with a unique natural and cultural heritage. |

Bulgarian Landscapes Bulgaria is a land of contrasts. To the east extends the warm welcome of the Black Sea with its rocky capes, sandy beaches and sheltered bays. To the north lies the Danube, fringed by lakes and marshes, and bordered by an alternating succession of elevated plateaus and broad steppe-like plains. But it is the majestic mountains that dominate Bulgaria, forming the physical heartland of the country as well as the spiritual soul of the nation. |

Bulgarian Nature For lovers of nature, Bulgaria is a paradise and a veritable Garden of Eden. Because of the range of habitats and climatic conditions found throughout the country, its flora and fauna ranks amongst the richest and most varied in Europe, including many endemic species which are unique to Bulgaria. Thankfully, great efforts are being made to preserve this priceless biodiversity, and over the years, large areas of Bulgaria have been designated as National Parks, Nature Parks & Nature Reserves. |

Bulgarian Culture Situated as it is at the edge of Europe, Bulgaria has long been an important eastern gateway to the continent and a melting pot for a range of different peoples and cultures, all of whom have left their mark on the country, and helped to shape its development and rich historical legacy. Today Bulgaria can rightly claim to be one of the greatest treasure houses in Europe, preserving not only priceless archaeological and architectural gems, but also a less well-known, but equally rich and important rural tradition of crafts, costumes and customs. |
