Yoga & Wellness Holidays in Bulgaria

Balkan Trek's unique yoga and wellness holidays in Bulgaria offer a relaxing and inspirational escape amidst some of the most beautiful mountain landscapes that can be found in Bulgaria. Our yoga holiday in the Rila Mountains, for example, allows you to find emotional and spiritual harmony among the most sacred mountains in Bulgaria.

Yoga is a mind and body practice, which primary goal is to gain balance in one’s life and provide a sense of calmness and inner peace. Like other meditative movement practices used for health purposes, various styles of yoga typically combine physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation (yoga nyidra), concentration (dharana), and meditation (dhyana).

All our yoga and wellness holidays, such as our yoga holiday in the Rila Mountains, are carefully designed to offer the perfect holistic blend of relaxation and invigoration for both mind and body, ensuring you will return home mentally, physically and emotionally refreshed, energized and fulfilled.

Our inspirational yoga teacher, Lyudmila Klasanova, began her yoga training in 1996 according to the tradition of Satyananda yoga. Having graduated as an instructor in the French Federation 'Tantra - Kundalini Yoga', since 2006 she has been teaching Kundalini yoga. Since 2011 she also practices Tibetan yoga after receiving Tsalung teachings from the 'Namcho' (Space Treasure) cycle from His Holiness Karma Kuchen, head of the Palyul Nyingma Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. As well as teaching yoga classes and seminars in Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, UK, France, Norway and Indonesia, Lyudmila has a Ph.D. in Indian and Tibetan culture from Sofia University (Bulgaria) where she teaches Buddhist Art, Tibetan Culture and Religions of East Asia.

Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting the opposites within us. Hatha is translated as ha meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of masculine aspects (sun) and feminine aspects (moon). Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It helps us to bring our attention to our breath, which allows us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.

Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness. It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to awake your potential and give you an experience of your soul. The tradition of Kundalini yoga was brought to the western world by the indian teacher Yogi Bhajan (1929-2004). Kundalini Yoga deals with powerful methods for awakening of the inner power and creativity. The practice includes complex of exercises (kriya) with static and dynamic postures (asana); breathing techniques (pranayama); relaxation (yoga nidra); meditation with sacred sounds (mantra), silence (mauna) or movements (celestial communication); yogic techniques for partners (Venus kriyas).

In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

'In Kundalini Yoga', wrote Yogi Bhajan, 'the most important thing is your experience. It goes right to your heart. No words can replace your experience. Your mind may accept the words or it may not, but your consciousness will not accept just words.'
